YCHS is an absolute joke. Don't send your children here unless you want them to be woefully unprepared throughout life. Pay a little out of pocket, and send them to Mac or to Gaston. It will be worth it in the long run for your child's education.

This school is a mess! I just recently graduated from here and I'm so glad I have this giant catastrophe of inefficiency behind me. It takes forever to do anything and the administration and counselors (the counselors are the absolute worst) do nothing to help you. Toward the end of senior year everyone I know was getting called down to their office and coming back angry. The teachers are ridiculous, there are a few good ones here and there but mainly its a bunch of ridiculous, unprofessional nut-jobs or barely licensed amateurs who have no idea how to teach. They also pick favorites which is really aggravating if you aren't on their good side. The school is also falling apart! It looks nice when you drive by the front , but head inside or around the back and you'll see a school that hasn't been remodeled or maintained for decades - the heating system doesn't even work half the time and I don't think there even IS a cooling system. If you send your child here you are setting them up for failure because the counselors and teachers do absolutely nothing to help you get into college, they are pretty much on their own, earning a mediocre education at a school that isn't even worth it.

YCHS is a joke. I skipped school every single day and they still gave me my diploma a year early. The staff doesn't know how and doesn't discipline you for anything. Not to mention staff picks favorites so if you're on a teachers good side nothing will happen to you. Our textbooks are atleast 10 years old or more and our curriculum is the same. The administration is the worst. The principal is a cool guy but then we have the absolutely unhelpful in any way counselors who actually make things worse and the vice-principal and dean of students who could care less about any of the people who go there. If you send your child here you can guarantee that they will go nowhere in life. All of the graduates from this high school may seem promising for a small school until they hit the real world. No one will do anything to change the world and will fade out and die just like the hopes and dreams of everyone who lives in the area.

YC - Highschool has helped inspire students to do their best and realize that their dreams can come true, it has the most attentive and caring teachers and staff that I have ever seen. There has been huge budget cuts this year, but this has not dampened YC's spirit and it's ability to put the student first and help them reach their goals in life.
